As we settle into the shortest month of the year, for many of us, it can feel more like the longest. This winter has been a wild one, temperatures have been frigid, to say the least. But that doesn’t mean we have to stay inside every night and hunker down under the duvet with a cup of tea. Instead, take your hot beverage to go and hit the Toronto Light Festival!
It’s back in full swing until March 4th in Toronto’s historic Distillery District and it brings us magnificent beauty and light to brighten those long winter nights.
Visually pleasing, and stimulating, this complimentary access festival is perfect for an evening stroll with friends, family, and little ones. The festival grounds are scattered with light inspired art installations. Each is unique and carefully curated. Here you can unwind from your day and let your creative energy flow as you meander through the charming cobblestone lanes of the Distillerygrounds.

Stop to admire the vibrant works of art as you go at your own pace. Let your imagination guide you and experience something, perhaps even inspirational, while embracing the cold.

What I love so much about events held in Distillery District is the vast choice of delicious food and drink options in the quarters. This area is known for its restaurant gems. We stopped for dinner after perusing the lights and settled on El Catrin for authentic and modern Mexican cuisine. Here we indulged in the freshest guacamole and chips, the Cuero de Panza al Horno (crispy pork belly) and Baja (fish) tacos with chipotle lime coleslaw. The atmosphere made us forget the winter blues, as we sipped mojitos like two vacationers down south. This spot has wonderful service and definitely lived up its top-notch reviews.
Thank you, Toronto for giving us something fun to do during our time with Old Man Winter. So go, walk around, and enjoy the art of light.
