Max Jamali, Toronto based artist, grew up in Dubai. As a teen, he longed to create something luxurious; forever dreaming of becoming an interior designer so that he could create spaces finished in leather and velvet. This image for himself was always in the back of his mind, but Max didn’t end up as an interior designer. His talents lead him into the world of fashion photography for ten years, and more recently, into creating works of art to adorn high end hotels and opulent living rooms.

But fashion still resides in his world as a source of inspiration for his new creations.

I had the pleasure of speaking to him about his recent art collection on display at Toronto Fashion Week (TFW) SS2019, in Yorkville. Conceptual Events Society submitted his work to TFW who took on four of the supermodel pieces as part of its first Style Art. The pieces are brilliant, both figuratively and quite literally. Recognize the icons portrayed here?

Max tells me why he transition from fashion photography into wall art…

Max uses crystals, diamond dust, genuine leather, snake skin and velvet in his work. But why these specific materials? He says he wants to create something that gives a feeling of being in a 5-star hotel lobby.

Luxury is the name to his game, and with that childhood dream still blazing, Max now has a presence in real estate. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. Max’s works can be found here.
